"To Love Dance is to Love Life"

Dancing is the most amazing thing that someone can do for themselves. It allows one to express themselves, to feel, to move and most of all let themselves be in the moment of rhythm, music and movement.

As a military veteran, I have found the ability to let go of things that have been troubling in my past. The ability to feel pain, anger, sorrow, happiness and of course love. Dancing is a veryemotional and cognitive exercise that will allow us to deal with almost everything in our lives, if we will just get on the floor and try it out.

My story begins back in the early 80's. I found myself in a bar that was offering free dance lessons. So I thought what the heck, why not. After a few beers who really cared. Eventually, someone came up and asked me, "How would you like to learn how to dance"? Well I was a little taken aback. Because I thought that was what I was doing. I finally agreed to accept this offer and started taking lessons 2 to 3 times a week with this person in that bar.

I eventually came to find out that this person was the lead choreographer and primary dancer for the Arthur Murray television show that used to be on TV. His name, Jeff Bartholomew. He has a bio of dance that will boggle the mind and here I was learning from this man for free. This venture between the two of us brought Jeff back into the world of dance after being away for many years and started me on a journey with dance that has lasted over 30 years.

I quickly became an instructor as well as a competitor in Country and Western dance. After winning numerous Overall Division Championships I became an adjudicator and began judging dance competitions. It wasn't long after that that Jeff suggested I try more formal training and recommended the Arthur Murray studio to me. After checking this out I began teaching, competing Pro/Am as well as Professionally in the world of American Ballroom. Again after numerous Top Student awards and Top Teacher awards and placing in Professional Rising Star and Open Professional events I won an Overall title at a World dance competition in Las Vegas, Nevada.

I eventually left Arthur Murray and opened my own studio Jessie Fosters Ballroom Dance School. After 10 years I decided that running a studio wasn't for me. I simply wanted to teach people to dance and give them the opportunity to enjoy something that was fun, exciting and simply enjoyable to do.

I would love to teach everyone to dance and I would like to start with you. If you have ever wanted to or thought that it would be nice to be able to dance with someone without stepping all over them and feeling clumsy contact me and lets get started.

My lessons are 45 minutes long and the cost for that time is $70.00. Some of you will think, wow that's a lot of money. But lets break it down. A couple in their 30's invests $700.00 for 10 private lessons that get them out on the floor dancing and feeling good about yourself will be able to use that investment for the next 40 years or so. That breaks down to $0.37 a week over those 40 years. And of course you can choose to pursue your dancing to what ever level you desire.

My goal is to teach people how to dance, not just to do a dance. If a dance is all you learn, then that is all you can do. But, if one learns to dance they dance all night long for the rest of their lives!
